Electricity users in Gauteng should prepare for temporary blackouts this week.
Eskom has scheduled maintenance work that will lead to planned power outages across several areas, with some residents facing nine hours without electricity.
Nine-Hour Power Cut Scheduled for Duduza
On Wednesday, 27 August, Eskom will conduct maintenance on the distribution network in Duduza on the East Rand.
This will result in a power outage from 9:00 to 18:00 for residents in Bluegum View, Zamane, and the Zamane informal settlement.
The maintenance is part of Eskom’s ongoing efforts to keep the electricity network safe, reliable, and efficient.
Soweto to Experience Power Interruption
Soweto residents should also be prepared for a planned power cut later in the week.
Eskom has announced that on Friday, 29 August, several areas will face a nine-hour electricity supply disruption. This is part of the utility’s regular maintenance plan across the province.
Safety Precautions During the Outage
Eskom has urged residents to treat all electrical appliances as live during the power outage.
The utility emphasized the importance of safety and thanked customers for their cooperation while apologizing for any inconvenience caused by the planned maintenance.
How to Prepare for Power Outages
Residents are encouraged to take practical steps to prepare for the temporary blackout, such as charging devices in advance, using alternative lighting, and minimizing the use of sensitive electrical appliances during the outage.
