The boxing world is buzzing as Jake Paul finally shed some light on the big update he teased about his upcoming showdown with British heavyweight Anthony Joshua.
Fans have been speculating wildly after Paul hinted at news on Monday, but the real announcement turned out to be a twist nobody saw coming.
The highly anticipated clash is set to take place at the Kaseya Center in Miami on December 19, with a staggering £140 million prize pool split evenly between the two fighters.
Originally, Paul was supposed to face Gervonta Davis, but the American boxer had to withdraw amid domestic abuse allegations, paving the way for Joshua to step in as a replacement last month.
Social Media Rumors and Cryptic Tweets
Yesterday, social media lit up with rumors of yet another cancellation after Paul posted a mysterious tweet reading: “9AM EST Tuesday. Major update. Had to be done. Is what it is.”
Fans immediately feared the worst, speculating that the fight with Joshua might be off entirely.
However, the news revealed on Tuesday was far from that.
Instead, Paul announced through his promotions company, Most Valuable Promotions, that Caroline Dubois, sister of British heavyweight Daniel Dubois, has officially signed with them.
Caroline Dubois Joins the Undercard
Jake Paul explained his reasoning: “All I want is a fair fight. Even the odds. Joshua brought in Usyk. So only right I bring in Dubois. Had to be done.”
The London-born Dubois is scheduled to appear on the undercard, taking on Italian boxer Camila Panatta.
This announcement has put to rest fears that the main event between Paul and Joshua might be canceled.
Fight Night Details
With just 10 days to go, fight night promises an electrifying matchup.
The 6ft 6in Joshua and 6ft 2in Paul will battle it out over eight three-minute rounds—though many experts doubt it will go the full distance.
Promoter Eddie Hearn has warned that if Joshua doesn’t “obliterate” Paul, he may have no choice but to retire, highlighting Paul’s reputation as more of a YouTube personality than a seasoned boxer.
Hearn also cautioned Paul about the dangers of facing the taller and heavier Joshua, noting that his reach is about six inches longer.
Joshua, who has consistently weighed over 250lbs in his last five fights, was reportedly around 265lbs when he accepted this fight and will have to cut down to the 245lbs limit.
Despite being out of the ring for more than a year since his knockout loss to Daniel Dubois in September 2024, Hearn is confident Joshua can make the weight.
Joshua’s Training Strategy
For his return, Joshua has revamped his training setup, now working alongside the team behind two-time unified heavyweight world champion Oleksandr Usyk, who defeated him in 2021 and 2022.
While some see this as a smart move, others, including British boxer Dillian Whyte, have been critical.
Whyte, who has fought Joshua twice, suggested that Joshua seems “lost” and unsure of his approach: “He seems like he’s wandering. He’s training here with one guy, then with Usyk’s team.
You can’t just copy someone else’s style—you need to find what works for you. Confidence is everything in boxing, and AJ doesn’t have it right now.”
What’s Next?
The countdown is on for what could be one of the most talked-about heavyweight fights in recent memory.
With a massive prize pot, high stakes, and plenty of controversy surrounding both fighters, December 19 is shaping up to be a night that boxing fans won’t want to miss.
