In a summer that’s already been jam-packed with signings and squad reshuffling, Chelsea are pushing ahead once again—this time with their eyes set on RB Leipzig’s rising star, Xavi Simons.

The Blues may already be overflowing with attacking talent, but that hasn’t stopped them from trying to bring in one of Europe’s most sought-after young midfielders.

A Former Barcelona Prodigy on the Move Again

At just 22, Xavi Simons has had quite the journey.

Once tipped as the next big thing at Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, Simons moved on to PSG, then Leipzig, and now seems to be preparing for his next chapter.

Despite only joining RB Leipzig last summer in a deal worth around £43 million, the Dutch playmaker could be on his way out already—this time for a reported £60 million.

Negotiations Are Going Smoothly Behind the Scenes

According to trusted transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, talks between Chelsea and Leipzig are moving in the right direction.

Both clubs are reportedly deep into negotiations, and personal terms with Simons himself are said to be nearly sorted.

It’s a move that could be finalized soon, assuming all the boxes get ticked in the coming days.

Simons Brings Serious Numbers to the Table

Simons isn’t just hype—he’s delivered on the pitch.

Last season in the Bundesliga, he scored 10 goals and added 7 assists in just 25 appearances.

On top of that, he’s already earned 28 caps for the Dutch national team, which is no small feat for someone his age.

His ability to play as a central attacking midfielder or out wide makes him a flexible asset for any squad.

Chelsea’s Attack Is Getting Crowded

If Simons does sign, he’ll be walking into an already stacked Chelsea dressing room.

The club has added several new faces this summer, including Joao Pedro (£60m from Brighton), Liam Delap (£30m), and Jamie Gittens (£55m from Borussia Dortmund).

Brazilian wonderkid Estevao is also on the way from Palmeiras for £29m.

That’s on top of stars like Cole Palmer and Pedro Neto, who are already part of the attacking mix.

So the big question is—where will Simons fit in?

Outgoings Are Starting to Pick Up Pace

To make room, Chelsea have started trimming their squad.

Noni Madueke has made a £52m switch to Arsenal, while Jadon Sancho has returned to Manchester United.

More exits could be on the way too, with reports suggesting that Enzo Maresca is keen to offload Christopher Nkunku after a disappointing season.

Nicolas Jackson, who arrived two years ago for £32m, is also being linked with a move.

Chelsea reportedly want £100m for the striker, with Manchester United among the interested clubs as they look to improve their attack after Rasmus Hojlund’s underwhelming performances.

Other Returning Faces Still Uncertain

Two players returning from loan spells—Raheem Sterling and Joao Felix—are also facing uncertain futures.

Sterling is back after a stint at Arsenal, and Felix returns from AC Milan, but neither is expected to play a major role in Maresca’s plans this season.

It’s likely they’ll both be seeking a fresh start elsewhere before the window closes.

Mudryk Faces a Major Setback

On a more serious note, winger Mykhailo Mudryk finds himself in hot water after being charged by the FA for breaching anti-doping rules.

The Ukrainian international reportedly failed a drugs test and could be staring down a four-year ban if found guilty.

It’s a significant blow for both player and club as Chelsea try to maintain focus in an already hectic pre-season.
