NGYouthSDGs invites young leaders across Nigeria to apply for the 2026 Youth Activators Lab to drive sustainable development initiatives

If you’re a young changemaker in Nigeria looking to make a real difference in your community, here’s some exciting news.

The Network of Youth for Sustainable Initiative (NGYouthSDGs) has officially opened applications for the 2026 cohort of its flagship program, the Youth Activators Lab (YAL).

This is more than just another leadership program — it’s a chance to turn ideas into tangible projects that align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

What Exactly Is the Youth Activators Lab

YAL is a six-month incubator designed to equip young leaders with the skills and systems-thinking mindset needed to tackle complex social challenges.

It builds on the success of the earlier NGYouthSDGs Champions Programme, but with a sharper focus on hands-on impact, policy engagement, and youth-led innovation.

Participants, known as associates or fellows, get to design and execute campaigns, drive SDG-aligned projects, and actively shape change in their communities.

Key Features and Benefits of YAL

Participants in the 2026 cohort can expect:

  • Training and Capacity Building: Monthly virtual sessions cover everything from systems thinking and advocacy to fundraising, project management, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Mentorship: Access to experienced mentors and global change leaders who provide guidance, feedback, and inspiration.

  • Co-Design and Implementation: Fellows collaborate with NGYouthSDGs to run real community campaigns and projects.

  • Project Pitch Competition: Opportunities to pitch ideas for funding, turning learning into actionable interventions.

  • Networking: Connect with fellow young leaders across Nigeria and potentially represent NGYouthSDGs at high-level events.

  • Graduation and Certification: Participants complete the program with a certificate and a graduation ceremony to celebrate their achievements.

  • Alumni Network: Graduates join NGYouthSDGs’s broader network, gaining ongoing access to mentorship, resources, and new opportunities.

Who Is Eligible to Apply

The program is open to individuals who meet the following criteria:

  • Age: 18 to 29 years old.

  • Location: Residing in Nigeria for the duration of the program.

  • Commitment: Able to dedicate 8–10 hours per month over six months.

  • Passion: Demonstrated or genuine interest in youth development, community activism, social impact, or the SDGs.

How to Apply

Applications for the 2026 cohort run from 5th November to 21st November 2025.

Here’s what the process looks like:

  1. Initial Submission: Submit your application online.

  2. Screening and Intro Call: Shortlisted candidates will join a 10-minute call to discuss goals and expectations.

  3. Interest Form and Reference: Finalists complete a more detailed interest form and provide a reference.

  4. Acceptance and Onboarding: Successful applicants will be notified between 9th–13th January 2026 and receive an onboarding package.

The program itself runs January to June 2026, giving six months of structured learning, mentorship, and project implementation.

Why You Should Apply

Joining YAL is about more than a certificate — it’s about stepping into a space where you can grow as a leader and drive meaningful change:
