In what felt like a scene straight out of a movie, a quiet family home in Huntington Park, Los Angeles, was rocked awake by a thunderous explosion.

But this wasn’t fiction—it was a real federal raid, and it left a mother-of-two in tears and her children deeply shaken.

Wake-Up Call Turns Into Nightmare

Jenny Ramirez and her two children, just one and six years old, were fast asleep when a deafening blast shattered their front door around 5 a.m.

Surveillance footage captured by NBC Los Angeles shows heavily armed federal agents planting an explosive device on the family’s front door—then blowing it open without warning.

Seconds later, about a dozen Border Patrol agents in full tactical gear stormed the home with weapons drawn, entering what they said was a high-risk situation.

“You Didn’t Have to Do This”

Ramirez, holding back tears in an interview, said the raid felt completely unjustified.

“You didn’t have to do this. You scared my son, my baby,” she recalled telling the agents.

She insists no one in the house had done anything wrong and that everyone inside is a U.S. citizen.

According to her, the reason given by agents for the raid was her boyfriend, Jorge Sierra-Hernandez, who they claimed was involved in an earlier incident involving federal vehicles.

Feds Say It Wasn’t Random

A spokesperson for Customs and Border Protection (CBP) later said Sierra-Hernandez was arrested for allegedly ramming a CBP vehicle during a recent altercation, damaging the vehicle and obstructing law enforcement.

The agency also said agents were assaulted during the original incident, with additional rioters allegedly throwing objects at federal officers.

But Ramirez disputes the scale and nature of the response, saying the use of such force—including the use of a drone flown into their home—was deeply traumatic for her children.

Federal Crackdown Raises Bigger Questions

This dramatic raid is just one of many examples of a growing federal crackdown across Southern California.

In recent weeks, ICE agents and Border Patrol officers have been making aggressive arrests—not just in homes, but at courthouses, restaurants, and even in public spaces.

Disturbingly, some of those detained have later been identified as American citizens, prompting outrage from immigrant rights groups and civil liberties advocates.

Another Arrest, More Tension in the Neighborhood

In a separate but equally strange incident that same Friday in Huntington Park, authorities arrested a man who was impersonating an ICE agent.

He was found parked illegally in a disabled spot, armed with a gun and holding what appeared to be fake Homeland Security and CBP documents. He has since been released on bail.

Growing Fear Among Immigrant Communities

The explosion at Jenny Ramirez’s home is now serving as a powerful—and painful—example of the tension building across immigrant and minority communities in California.

While federal authorities insist they’re targeting specific threats, incidents like this are sparking fears that innocent families are being swept up in the chaos.

As Ramirez put it simply, “We were just trying to live our lives.

Now, my kids are scared in their own home.”
