Kaizer Chiefs are not slowing down when it comes to reshaping their squad for the new season — and it looks like midfielder Mduduzi Mdantsane is the next in line for the chop.

Just two years after joining the club with high hopes, his time at Naturena could be coming to an abrupt end.

Short Stay and Limited Impact at Amakhosi

Mdantsane joined the Soweto giants in June 2023 from Cape Town City in a deal reportedly worth R3.5 million.

At the time, expectations were high that he’d add spark to the Chiefs’ midfield.

But things didn’t quite go according to plan.

During the 2023/24 season, the 30-year-old only managed to feature in 13 league matches.

Worse still, he didn’t register a single appearance during the previous calendar year before being loaned out to Richards Bay FC in January — where he only played three matches.

Decision on Mdantsane’s Future Coming Soon

According to KickOff, Chiefs are expected to finalise Mdantsane’s departure within days.

The club is reportedly arranging a final meeting between the player and Football Manager Bobby Motaung to wrap things up professionally.

“They’re still tying up the loose ends,” a source told the publication.

“The plan is to have a proper sit-down and part ways respectfully before the end of the week.”

Four Players Already Shown the Exit Door

Mdantsane isn’t the only one facing the axe.

Kaizer Chiefs have already released four players this week as they look to refresh their squad ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

So far, the club has parted ways with:

  • Edmilson Dove

  • Sabelo Radebe

  • Njabulo Blom

  • Ranga Chivaviro

The most recent exit, Edmilson Dove, ends a three-year spell with the team.

The club confirmed his departure in a statement, saying his contract will expire at the end of June and won’t be renewed.

Pre-Season Plans in Full Swing

While player exits dominate headlines, Amakhosi are also gearing up for their pre-season trip to the Netherlands.

The tour is expected to help new signings integrate and give the coaching team a closer look at remaining squad members.
