Kaizer Chiefs Renew Interest in Bafana Bafana Winger Elias Mokwana as They Hunt for New Attacking Options in South Africa

The transfer buzz is heating up again, and Kaizer Chiefs appear to be revisiting old targets as they look to strengthen their squad.

One name back on their radar is Elias Mokwana, the Bafana Bafana winger they tried to sign before he decided to join Esperance.

Mokwana’s Role This Season: Impact Off the Bench

Mokwana hasn’t quite nailed down a regular starting spot this season, but he’s been a valuable impact player coming off the bench.

With 25 league appearances under his belt, he’s managed to contribute three goals and two assists — solid numbers for a super-sub.

His performances in the CAF Champions League have been impressive too, racking up five goal contributions in just eight matches.

Is Fiston Mayele Still a Possibility for Chiefs?

When it comes to adding firepower up front, Kaizer Chiefs have long had their eyes on Fiston Mayele. However, that pursuit might be slipping away.

Word is that Mayele has attracted bids exceeding R74 million, making it tough for Chiefs to compete financially.

An Egyptian source, Al-Masry Al-Youm, shared some insight: Mayele’s current club, Pyramids FC, expects him to move on after the Egypt Cup final against Zamalek.

Offers reportedly top $3 million a season, going as high as $4 million (about R74 million), while Mayele himself earns around $1 million per season currently.

It seems he’s eager to move on, refusing to extend his stay at Pyramids despite being a key figure in their Champions League success.

Another Striker Target: Etiosa Ighodaro from Sundowns

If Mayele proves out of reach, Chiefs might shift focus to another striking option closer to home: Etiosa Ighodaro from Mamelodi Sundowns.

According to sources from SoccerLaduma, Chiefs have made inquiries about Ighodaro before.

Interestingly, the scouts who originally brought Ighodaro from Nigeria to Sundowns are the same ones feeding information to Chiefs now.

This isn’t their first look at the player either. They had their eyes on him when he was loaned out to Chippa United, but Sundowns instead loaned him to SuperSport United.

Now, with the possibility that Sundowns may be open to letting him go, Chiefs could make a move.

Who Fits Best at Kaizer Chiefs?

With these options on the table, Chiefs fans are left wondering which player would be the better fit for the team’s ambitions this season.

Would it be Mokwana, the dynamic winger familiar with their style, or a striker like Mayele or Ighodaro to boost their attack?
