Liverpool Advances Talks to Sign Bournemouth Defender Milos Kerkez as Second Full-Back This Summer in England

Liverpool is clearly not done yet this summer. After moving quickly to secure Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong, the Reds are now making serious moves to land another full-back — this time from Bournemouth.

It looks like Milos Kerkez, the young and talented left-back, could be on his way to Anfield.

Talks Progressing Over Milos Kerkez Transfer

Reports suggest Liverpool is deep in negotiations with Bournemouth to agree on a transfer fee for Kerkez.

The 21-year-old Hungarian defender has caught the eye of the Reds, and personal terms are reportedly close to being finalized.

If the deal goes through, Kerkez would become Liverpool’s second big signing of the summer after Frimpong.

Bournemouth are not making this an easy sale. The club has slapped a hefty £45 million price tag on Kerkez, who is one of their most valuable players.

Adding that to the nearly £30 million for Frimpong, Liverpool’s spending on full-backs this summer could reach an eye-watering £75 million.

Bournemouth Set to Lose a Key Player

Bournemouth’s manager Andoni Iraola will be understandably reluctant to let go of Kerkez.

The young full-back has been one of their standout performers over the past two seasons, and he still has three years left on his contract.

However, with interest coming in from top clubs — including Liverpool and reportedly Manchester United — it seems like Bournemouth might have to prepare for his departure.

Chairman Bill Foley, who owns the club, has even hinted that he won’t block players if they want to move on.

After losing their promising centre-back Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid for £50 million, it looks like Bournemouth might be ready to cash in on their other talented youngsters too.

What Kerkez Brings to the Table

On the pitch, Kerkez has impressed with two goals and six assists this season, showing he’s not just solid defensively but also capable of contributing going forward.

Off the field, he’s got some interesting hobbies — camping, fishing, and chopping wood back home in Serbia, where he was born.

His football journey has been quite international too.

Starting in the youth ranks at AC Milan, he moved to Dutch club AZ before Bournemouth signed him for £15 million two years ago.

Fun fact: Liverpool’s sporting director Richard Hughes was actually Bournemouth’s technical director when they brought Kerkez on board.

What This Means for Liverpool’s Current Left-Backs

If Liverpool does land Kerkez, it could shake things up on the left side of their defense.

Andy Robertson, now 31, has been a reliable figure for the Reds for eight seasons but has faced more competition than ever lately.

After a tough pre-season injury, his minutes have been managed carefully, though he still started 37 games this season.

Kostas Tsimikas, the other left-back, also might feel the heat with a new signing in the mix.

It’s going to be interesting to see how Klopp manages this trio moving forward.
