On 28 February, Rachel Kolisi, the estranged wife of Springboks captain Siya Kolisi, took a moment to honor his brother, Liyema, on his 23rd birthday.
Despite their own separation, Rachel remains close to Siya’s family, particularly Liyema, whom she has helped raise since he and his sibling Liphelo were adopted by her and Siya when they were young.
A Loving Tribute to Liyema
Rachel, a mother of two, posted a heartfelt tribute to Liyema on Instagram, reflecting on the special bond they share.
In her message, she praised Liyema for his kind, gentle nature and his thoughtfulness toward others.
“Liyema is kind, gentle and always considerate. He goes above and beyond for people he loves,” she wrote.
“He works hard, is committed, and brings joy wherever he goes.”
Rachel also expressed how proud she is of him and looked forward to what his 23rd year would bring.

In addition to the birthday message, Rachel shared a glimpse of how Liyema has been a strong support system for her.
For Rachel’s birthday in January, Liyema wrote an emotional post calling her a “mother figure” in his life.
“Words can not express how grateful I am to have you as a mother figure in my life,” he wrote.
“I love you so much, may God bless you with many more years and many more memories.”
Rachel responded with gratitude, revealing that Liyema had also surprised her with a custom cake and a thoughtful gift for her special day.
Liyema’s Thoughtful Gesture for Rachel’s Birthday
Though Liyema couldn’t be present during Rachel’s birthday celebrations, he made sure to surprise her later with a gift. “@offlame_g is a working man now so he couldn’t join the birthday celebrations on Tuesday but came home to surprise me with this tonight.
The most thoughtful gentleman,” Rachel shared, expressing her appreciation for his kind gesture.
