Heidi Gardner Reveals Why Travis Kelce is Her Favorite SNL Host Despite the Taylor Swift Connection at the Show’s 50th Anniversary Special

Heidi Gardner, the talented comedian from Saturday Night Live, recently opened up about her favorite celebrity host on the show, and it turns out, it’s not someone you might expect.

Despite all the headlines about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, Gardner says her admiration for the Kansas City Chiefs star has nothing to do with Swift.

A Fan of the Chiefs and Kelce

When asked about her favorite SNL guest host during the red carpet event for the show’s 50th anniversary special, Gardner didn’t hesitate.

Although she’s a fan of Taylor Swift, her heart lies with the Chiefs, and it’s that connection to her Kansas City roots that makes Kelce her top choice. She told Page Six, “Love Taylor Swift too, but I’m a Chiefs fan.”

Kelce hosted SNL in March 2023, months before he and Swift began dating.

For Gardner, it was an exciting opportunity to meet one of her sports heroes.

A Little Sister Moment with Kelce

Being a Chiefs fan, Gardner couldn’t resist asking Kelce about his pregame rituals.

In a playful admission, she described herself as being like a little sister, bombarding him with questions she had always wanted to know, like what he ate before the game or if he showered before taking the field.

“I was like a little sister just asking all the questions I’ve always wondered,” she said, showing how much her Chiefs fandom shines through.

Heartfelt Tribute to the Chiefs Before the Super Bowl

Ahead of the Super Bowl on February 9, Gardner shared a heartfelt message to the Chiefs on Instagram, wishing them good luck.

“I LOVE YOU CHIEFS and I think you’re the best sending you all my love and luck today,” she wrote.

Her post included pictures of her in a full Patrick Mahomes uniform, along with snaps of her with Kelce and Mahomes from different events.

Sadly, Gardner’s hope for a Super Bowl win wasn’t realized as the Chiefs were defeated by the Eagles 40-22, putting a stop to their pursuit of a historic three-peat.

Kelce Reflects on His Future After the Super Bowl Loss

After the game, Kelce made some cryptic comments about his future in the NFL.

He had previously stated that he hoped to still be playing in three years, but after the loss, he hinted at the possibility of retirement.

On his New Heights podcast, he shared, “I’m gonna take some time to figure it out… I owe it to my teammates that if I do come back, it’s gonna be a wholehearted decision.”

He emphasized that he wouldn’t return unless he was fully committed.

“I think I can play, it’s just whether or not I’m motivated or it’s the best decision for me as a man, as a human, as a person to take on all that responsibility.”

Only time will tell if Kelce decides to return for another season, but for now, it’s clear he’s taking a step back to reflect.
