Donald Trump Dismisses Social Media Speculation about Elon Musk’s Potential Presidential Ambitions in Arizona Rally

In a recent video making the rounds, Donald Trump dismissed the idea that Elon Musk is aiming to take his spot as the President of the United States.

The clip, which shows Trump speaking at an Arizona rally, even includes a jibe about Musk’s birthplace, alluding to his South African origins in a less-than-flattering manner.

Trump Deflects Claims of Musk Taking Over

During the Arizona rally in December, Trump responded to growing speculation online that Musk might be positioning himself for a run at the presidency.

He laughed off the idea, saying, “No, he is not taking the presidency.

I like having smart people around me.” He quickly followed up by mocking the rumors, calling them “the new hoax” and asserting, “He’s not going to be president, that I can tell you.

And I’m safe, you know why? He can’t be; he wasn’t born in this country. Hahaha…”

Musk’s Citizenship Status and Presidential Eligibility

While Trump’s comment about Musk not being able to run for president due to his birthplace may raise eyebrows, it’s technically based on U.S. law.

The U.S. Constitution stipulates that only natural-born citizens can hold the office of President. Musk, however, became a naturalized U.S.

citizen in 2002, so while Trump’s comment may have been a jab, it’s important to note that Musk does meet the legal requirements to run for president if he ever chose to.

Melania Trump’s Non-U.S. Birth Raises Eyebrows

Interestingly, just like Musk, Trump’s own wife, Melania, was not born in the U.S. The Slovenian-born former model is the second non-U.S. woman to serve as First Lady.

The first was Louisa Adams, wife of John Quincy Adams.

However, Melania did become a naturalized U.S. citizen before stepping into the role of First Lady, making her the first First Lady with that distinction.

Elon Musk Denies Trying to ‘Take Over’ the White House

Elon Musk, who heads up the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under Trump’s administration, also addressed the notion that he’s plotting a “hostile takeover” of the White House.

Musk appeared alongside his four-year-old son, Little X, and firmly rejected such claims.

“The public voted for major government reform… and they’re going to get what they voted for,” Musk said. “And that’s what democracy is all about.”

Musk also took a swipe at the bureaucracy, calling it an unelected “fourth unconstitutional branch of government” that currently holds more power than many elected officials.

Public Opinion on Musk’s Influence

Given Musk’s immense influence and wealth, questions about whether he wields more power than even the president continue to swirl.
