Kaizer Chiefs Miss Out on Ruben del Campo as Spanish Club Universidad Católica de Murcia Secures His Signature

In the world of football transfers, deals often change course quickly, and Kaizer Chiefs have just experienced a shift in their pursuit of a striker they were once keen on.

Ruben del Campo, who was previously linked with a move to Chiefs, has now signed with a new club, leaving Amakhosi’s forward search to continue in a different direction.

Kaizer Chiefs’ Search for an Experienced Striker

Kaizer Chiefs’ new coach, Nasreddine Nabi, has been vocal about the team’s need for a quality and experienced striker.

In the previous transfer window, the club had shown interest in acquiring Fiston Mayele, a forward with a proven track record.

Rumors even suggested that Chiefs had made an offer of R15 million for Mayele.

However, Pyramid FC, his current club, were not willing to part ways with their top scorer after just one season, making the deal impossible to finalize.

Chiefs Look to Ruben del Campo, But Move Fizzles Out

After the Mayele deal fell through, Chiefs turned their attention to Ruben del Campo, a former Switzerland youth international.

Initially, there were reports suggesting that Chiefs were pursuing him seriously.

However, after talks with the player and other clubs, it became clear that del Campo wasn’t the right fit for Amakhosi at this moment.

Chiefs then shifted their focus to other targets.

Del Campo Signs with Universidad Católica de Murcia

Del Campo, whose name was once in the mix for Kaizer Chiefs, has now officially joined Universidad Católica de Murcia Club de Fútbol.

The Spanish club, which plays in the fourth tier of Spanish football, announced the signing on a free transfer.

Del Campo’s previous stint was with Atlético Ottawa in the Canadian Premier League, where he had a successful run, scoring 14 goals in 33 appearances.

His move to Universidad Católica de Murcia will see him stay with the team until the summer of 2026.

Kaizer Chiefs Focus on Other Forward Targets

With del Campo now off the table, Chiefs are moving forward with their plans to strengthen their attack.

The club is reportedly close to finalizing deals for Tashreeq Morris and Glody Lilepo, two forwards that appear to be higher on their list of priorities.

This shift in focus suggests that Chiefs feel more confident in these new additions, which are likely to help bolster their forward line.

What Do Chiefs Fans Think of Passing on Del Campo?

With del Campo now joining Universidad Católica de Murcia, many Chiefs fans are wondering whether the club made the right call in passing up on the opportunity to sign him.

The former Atlético Madrid man has a solid track record, but Chiefs’ focus has clearly shifted elsewhere.

Do you think Kaizer Chiefs made the right decision in moving on from del Campo, or would you have liked to see him join the club? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.
