Aaron Rodgers, the quarterback for the New York Jets, has thrown his support behind his friend, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who has been nominated by President-elect Donald Trump to serve as the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
Ahead of Kennedy’s confirmation hearing, Rodgers took to The Pat McAfee Show to express his thoughts, saying he’s eager to see how the process unfolds.
Rodgers Shows Confidence in RFK Jr.
Rodgers, who once considered teaming up with Kennedy as his running mate during Kennedy’s bid for the presidency, is clearly confident in his friend’s abilities.
He even issued a “heads-up” to Congress, suggesting that he’s looking forward to watching Kennedy face any challenges during the confirmation hearing.
“I can’t wait to see who tries to mess with him,” Rodgers said, before adding that anyone who challenges Kennedy will likely be outmatched.
According to Rodgers, Kennedy is no stranger to tough debates.
“He’s smart, and he can hold his own,” Rodgers continued.
“He’s off the cuff, no notes—he’s going to handle himself well.”
With this, Rodgers made it clear that he believes his friend is more than capable of standing up to any senators who might try to discredit him.
Kennedy’s Controversial Health Views
While Rodgers is backing Kennedy, the latter’s health views have been controversial, attracting both praise and criticism from members of both major political parties.
Kennedy’s “Make America Healthy Again” initiative includes plans to defluoridate the water supply, spread information about vaccines, and promote the benefits of raw milk.
Rodgers touched on these points, particularly in light of the recent FDA proposal to ban certain red food dyes over cancer concerns.
The quarterback pointed out that many food products in the U.S. contain harmful ingredients that are banned in other countries.
“If you take a minute to research the ingredients in products here versus overseas, it’s disgusting,” Rodgers said.
“The things they allow here, the carcinogenic products—they’re terrible for you.”
Rodgers Says Kennedy Wants What’s Best for Everyone
Rodgers is adamant that Kennedy’s goal is simple: to ensure the safety of the food and products being offered to Americans.
“He just wants to make sure that what we’re giving our kids is safe, what we’re consuming is safe, and he’s going to make America healthy again, or die trying,” Rodgers passionately stated.
While Kennedy’s confirmation hearing hasn’t been scheduled yet, his supporters, including Rodgers, are hopeful that the process will move forward without unnecessary obstacles.
For now, Rodgers is focused on supporting his friend as the political landscape prepares for another term under Trump.
A New Chapter for Rodgers
As for Rodgers himself, he has already completed his first full season with the New York Jets.
Though the team finished with a disappointing 5-12 record, Rodgers remains optimistic about the future, ready for whatever comes next in his career and beyond.
It seems that, no matter the field, Rodgers is always ready to fight for what he believes in—whether it’s on the football field or in support of his friends.
