The upcoming FA Cup third-round match between Everton and Peterborough was in danger of being called off due to harsh weather conditions.

Snow and ice blanketed the Merseyside area, leaving both teams and fans worried about whether the match could go ahead as planned.

Safety Meeting Clears the Way for the Game

After concerns mounted, Everton officials held a safety meeting at 1 pm to assess whether the match could safely proceed.

Fortunately, the meeting concluded with the green light, and the game was confirmed to be on.

Fans Advised to Prepare for Cold Conditions

Everton made an official statement reassuring fans that the match would take place as scheduled, with a 7:45 pm kick-off.

They also reminded supporters to take precautions in light of the cold weather, advising everyone attending Goodison Park to allow extra travel time and be aware of any weather warnings in place.

Additionally, the club’s staff, in cooperation with the Liverpool City Council’s Streetscene Services team, had been treating the surrounding roads and footpaths since morning to ensure safe access to the stadium.

Everton’s Rescheduling Woes

This news is likely a relief for Everton, as they’ve already been dealing with the disruption of a postponed match.

Earlier this season, their Merseyside derby against Liverpool was also called off due to Storm Darragh.

That fixture is yet to be rescheduled, adding more pressure on the club to manage their packed fixture list.
