Chiefs Eye Reinforcements in January
Kaizer Chiefs are gearing up to strengthen their squad as the January transfer window approaches .
After a tough start under their Tunisian coach, Nasreddine Nabi, the club is looking to make moves in the market to help improve their team.
The club has been linked with several potential signings, including a few of Nabi’s former players from his past coaching stints.
Feisal Salum a Priority Target
One of the names making headlines is 26-year-old Tanzanian midfielder Feisal Salum.
He has been strongly connected to a move to Chiefs in recent weeks. Salum enjoyed a successful period under Nabi while playing for Young Africans, which makes him one of the coach’s top targets for the upcoming transfer window.
However, recent reports have cast doubt on the possibility of this transfer.
A spokesperson for Azam FC, the club Salum currently plays for, has denied any negotiations with Chiefs.
Hashim Ibwe clarified that there have been no talks between the two clubs regarding Salum’s transfer, emphasizing that the player is still under contract and committed to Azam FC.
Azam FC Refutes Chiefs’ Interest in Salum
“We can confirm that there have been no discussions between Kaizer Chiefs or any other club and Azam FC regarding Feisal Salum,” Ibwe stated to FARPost.
“He remains under contract with us and continues to respect the club, which we truly appreciate.”
This statement seems to shut down any immediate prospects of Salum making a move to Chiefs, at least for now.
Chiefs’ Struggles in the Transfer Market
Meanwhile, Chiefs have been active in their pursuit of another key player to bolster their midfield.
The club recently made an offer for Sihle Nduli, a standout player from Stellenbosch FC.
However, their initial bid of R4 million was rejected by Stellenbosch, who are holding out for a higher price.
An insider revealed to Soccer Laduma that despite the rejection, Chiefs haven’t given up on securing Nduli’s services.
Stellenbosch, on the other hand, countered with a R7 million asking price.
It remains uncertain whether Chiefs will meet the new demand or pull out of negotiations altogether.
Will Chiefs Break the Bank for Nduli?
At this stage, Chiefs will need to decide whether to raise their offer for Nduli or explore other options.
Stellenbosch appears ready to part ways with the midfielder if their asking price is met, making the situation a key one for Chiefs in their ongoing squad overhaul.
