Suspect Flees After Allegedly Stabbing a Man on the New York City Subway in Lower Manhattan on New Year’s Day

New York City saw a violent start to the year when a man was reportedly stabbed on the subway, sparking a search for the suspect.

This incident occurred on New Year’s Day and comes amid growing concerns over rising transit crimes in the city.

Suspect Flees the Scene After Attack

According to police reports, the attack unfolded on the 2 train at the 14th Street Station in Lower Manhattan on Wednesday morning around 9:45 AM.

The 31-year-old victim was stabbed while on board a northbound train.

Following the assault, the suspect fled the scene and ran into the streets, eluding authorities.

Descriptions and Investigation Details

The suspect, described as a black man, was seen wearing a black puffer jacket and dark sweatpants, and was carrying a red suitcase at the time of the attack.

New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) confirmed that police were responding to a “disruptive” individual at the station, causing delays on the subway’s red line.

Authorities believe the suspect exited the station through the 12th Street and 7th Avenue exit.

Despite ongoing efforts to locate him, he remains at large, with a continued police presence in the area.

Victim’s Condition and Ongoing Search

The victim suffered injuries to his back and was quickly transported to Bellevue Hospital.

Fortunately, he is reported to be in stable condition.

The New York Police Department (NYPD) is still actively searching the area and investigating the situation.
