Arteta refuses to set return date:
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed his concern over Jesus’ injury and has stated that he will not put a timeframe for his return because he did it once and got it totally wrong.
“I’m honestly not going to put any timeframe for Gabriel Jesus injury because I did it once and got it totally wrong,” Arteta said. “We need to be cautious because we need to treat it in the right way. He’s already pushing everybody and wants to be back as quickly as possible.”
Jesus expected to miss several games:
Jesus is expected to miss several games for Arsenal, as the extent of his injury remains unclear. This won’t be the first time the player has suffered an injury spell, as he has struggled with a number of fitness problems during his time at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal’s options in Jesus’ absence:
In Jesus’ absence, Arsenal will have to rely on the likes of Eddie Nketiah and Folarin Balogun to lead the line. The Gunners could also look to deploy Martinelli or Bukayo Saka as central strikers.
