A philanthropist and female governorship aspirant, Mrs Imah Nsa-Adegoke has promised to shift the cycle of injustice and inequity in governance.
Nsa-Adegoke, who was received at the party secretariat in Calabar by an array of women groups and the leadership of the PDP, presented her manifesto, which focuses on the vision for a power shift that would guarantee the development of infrastructure, education, health and the state’s economy, to the public.
Mrs Imah-Nsa Adegoke welcomed by women at the PDP secretariat in Calabar.
Nsa-Adegoke, a frontline advocate for widows’ rights, is the first woman to contest for the governorship seat of Cross River State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
She said, “My team and I are here for a power SHIFT, an acronym for Schools, Hospitals, Infrastructure, Farms and Technology.
“It is a five-point plan. We will pursue it for the benefit of the people of Cross River state.
“There must be a shift in government. We need a person of integrity and commitment to change Cross River State, and I am the best candidate for the job as Cross River governor. When I give my word, I keep to my words; I am not an option, I am the choice,” Nsa-Adegoke stressed.
According to her, the determination to contest for the highest political seat in the state was borne out of the desire to address the challenges of the people across the eighteen local government areas.
SALVAGING CROSS RIVER STATE
The aspirant hinted that as she traversed the eighteen council areas while creating awareness of an existing law protecting widows’ rights to inherit the land and other property, the desire to salvage Cross River people from the almost hopeless state of affairs became stronger.
Nsa-Adegoke insisted that the people of Cross River deserved better governance. As a woman in touch with the grassroots, she has the experience, capacity and vision to reposition every development sector in the state.
“I am a woman of the people; I believe in the true meaning of democracy as a government of the people for the people and by the people, not for the rich or those who hold positions. I am Imah Nsa-Adegoke; I am running for governor of Cross River state.
“I am coming to use Technology to improve the education of all people.
“I am qualified to be governor, and when I become governor, we will promote intangible infrastructures; we will set up the best forensic laboratory in Nigeria. Our children will walk the streets of Cross River state freely,” she said.
The aspirant, who contested the same position in 2011, promised “we will improve agriculture. We do not need crude oil; we have what it takes to turn our state’s economy around.
Cross River PDP State Chairman, Mr Venatius Ikem, addressed the aspirant and her team during the declaration.Responding, the PDP state chairman, Mr Venatius Ikem, expressed confidence that the party was fielding people with proven and tested integrity across all elective positions in the state and reiterated the resolve of the party to provide a level playing ground for every aspirant.
