For Fyodor, a 20-year-old waiter, the whole situation left him unsettled.
“It was very strange and very uncomplimentary for Zelensky as a president,” he said.
He also added that a president shouldn’t behave in such a manner.

Trump Accuses Zelensky of Playing with Fire
One of the most dramatic moments during the confrontation was when Trump told Zelensky that without the United States, Ukraine would have no “cards” to play and accused him of “gambling with World War Three.”
Fyodor seemed to agree with Trump’s assessment, saying, “Trump himself said a very true thing, that Ukraine has no winning cards in its hands.”
The young man believed the only way forward would be for Ukraine to sign a peace agreement and ceasefire.
His perspective reflects a sentiment shared by some Russians who feel that a resolution to the war may be the best path forward.

While the confrontation between Trump and Zelensky was uncomfortable for some, there was still hope among many in Moscow that it could help bring an end to the war.
Anastasia, a 26-year-old waitress, acknowledged that the situation was unpleasant but felt that it could be a step towards the conflict’s resolution.
“It’s not good, of course, that this situation happened. But in general, we are all glad that everything is going to its logical conclusion,” she explained.
The war, which began when Russia launched a large-scale military offensive against Ukraine in February 2022, has caused immense global tension.

The confrontation between Trump and Zelensky didn’t just grab attention in Russia.

Political analyst Konstantin Kalachev observed, “Europe is probably only beginning to recognize the situation it is in, in terms of medium, long-term prospects without the American umbrella.”
Kalachev pointed out that while Putin seems to be gaining from the conflict in the short term, a peace agreement could bring a quicker resolution.
Russia’s Skepticism Towards Trump’s Intentions
While some Russians were hopeful about the potential for peace, others were more skeptical of Trump’s motivations. Tolstykh was cautious, saying, “I don’t think he has become an ally.
He has his own agenda.” She was not entirely convinced that Trump’s actions were in Russia’s best interest.
Vitaly Kuragin, a 67-year-old retired artist, was even more critical of Trump, calling him “a sly fox” and questioning what Russia would gain from aligning with him.
“What’s in it for Russia? He’s for America,” Kuragin remarked, casting doubt on whether Trump’s actions were truly aligned with Russia’s interests.
