Hundreds of structures were reduced to piles of wood in the blast on Thursday in Apiate, a village between the cities of Bogoso and Bawdie, while videos from local media show wreckage and twisted metal, as well as dead bodies crumpled on the ground surrounded by debris.
According to police, the motorcyclist collided with a vehicle owned by Maxam that was bringing explosives to the Chirano gold mine, which is operated by Toronto-based Kinross Gold Corporation.
