Zimbabwe’s Heroes’ Day is always a special time for the nation to come together and remember the brave souls who fought for its independence.

This year’s celebrations brought something extra exciting to the city of Bulawayo — a mix of heartfelt tribute and high-energy music that left everyone buzzing.

Honouring the Legacy of Zimbabwe’s Liberation Heroes

Held every year on the second Monday of August, Heroes’ Day is one of Zimbabwe’s most important holidays.

It’s a moment for citizens to pause and reflect on the courage and sacrifices that paved the way for the country’s freedom.

From memorial ceremonies to community gatherings, people across Zimbabwe united in respect and gratitude for those heroes.

South African Star Kevin Momo Makes His Zimbabwe Debut

Adding a fresh vibe to the commemorations, Bulawayo welcomed South African DJ and Amapiano producer Kevin Momo for his very first performance in Zimbabwe.

He arrived earlier in the day, touching down at Joshua Mqabuko International Airport, and later took to the stage to deliver an electrifying set that kept the crowd dancing late into the night.

“I’ve always wanted to connect with fans beyond South Africa, and being here in Bulawayo feels like a dream come true,” Kevin shared with The Chronicle ahead of his show.

“Tonight, we’re going to make memories that last.”

Music as a Bridge of Unity and Pride

The timing of Kevin’s performance seemed perfectly symbolic — blending Zimbabwe’s proud history with the vibrant creativity and resilience of today.

Music brought people from all walks of life together, creating a shared moment of joy and national pride that honored both the past and the present.
