Why Promise Mkhuma’s SuperSport United loan deal from Mamelodi Sundowns collapsed

It seems as if Mamelodi Sundowns youngster Promise Mkhuma was left with “egg on his face” after his rumoured loan move to SuperSport United collapsed at the eleventh hour.
Mkhuma has not been getting much in the way of game time at Sundowns this season, and it has since been revealed that SuperSport had been trying to grant him an escape.

Sundowns had the best window

Sundowns enjoyed what was a very busy and productive window, being by far, the biggest winners of the mid-season transfer period. Ka Bo Yellow were able to rope in the likes of Bradley Ralani, Teboho Mokoena, Erwin Saavedra and Abubaker Nassir. They did allow a few outgoings too, with two heading to SuperSport in the form of Sifiso Ngobeni and Soumahoro Bangaly. It has since been revealed that, they were supposed to be joined by one more player in the form of Mkhuma, before his deal collapsed last minute.

Not a promising situation for Mkhuma

According to Soccer-Laduma the talks between SuperSport and Sundowns for Mkhuma kept on dragging, up until the very last hour of the January transfer window.
It is then thought that the prolonging of the talks between the crosstown rivals came when Matsatsantsa tried to shift the goal-posts last minute.
According the same publication, SuperSport and Sundowns were initially on the table discussing a loan move for the speedy winger.
Then, the blue half of Tshwane reportedly started asking for the player to join their ranks on a permanent deal rather. That is where the negotiations for the deal began to hit a snag.
Now after the collapse of that particular deal, the 21-year-old will have to see out the rest of the season at the Brazilians.

Player desperate for game time.

Mkhuma’s agent Mike Makaab had already spoken about Mkhuma’s desperation to go out and get some game time elsewhere, seeing as though he has found opportunities at Sundowns few and far between.
Seeing as though the team has bolstered an already talented forward line, it would have made perfect sense for all parties to have the South African Junior international going across town to continue his development, at least in the interim.
