Police Confiscate Firearms in Two Isolated Interventions

The police in Western Cape have confiscated two firearms with ammunition in separate incidents.

According to Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi, police responded to complaints and searched the areas close to the suspects, resulting in the seizures.

Domestic Violence Call Leads to Confiscation of Firearm

On Monday, April 3rd, 2023, the Simons Town police responded to a domestic violence complaint at Harbour Heights Drive.

Upon arriving, they confiscated a .38 Special revolver with ammunition hidden behind a wooden frame.

They also arrested a 63-year-old man for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Firearm Discovered in Connection with a Shooting Incident

On Tuesday, April 4th, 2023, at around 12:45, Stellenbosch police responded to a complaint of a business robbery on Merriman Street.

Upon arrival, they found a man who had sustained injuries from a shooting in the area.

Upon inspecting the area, they discovered a 9mm Norinco pistol hidden close to the injured person.
