Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is set to take place on June 5, and the company is expected to showcase the next generation of watchOS alongside other software updates.
WatchOS 10 is expected to receive major design upgrades, with a redesigned home screen inspired by iOS.
According to a recent leak from Twitter user @analyst941, the new layout will feature a grid of three apps in a row, allowing users to create folders and move and act more easily.
Uncertainty Regarding Replacement of Current Layout
At present, watchOS offers the Grid and List view for the home screen.
The Twitter user has not confirmed if the redesigned layout will replace the grid as the default option or if it will be a third option for users to choose from.
The redesign is expected to make the operating system more familiar to iOS users.
Major Update to watchOS
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman recently stated in his newsletter Power On that watchOS would receive a major update this year.
According to him, the operating system upgrade would be the focus, and hardware changes would be minimal.
The watchOS 10 update is expected to include new watch faces, workout modes, more native watch apps, and other features.
Upcoming Apple Event
Apple’s WWDC 2023 event is scheduled to start on June 5 and end on June 9.
While the event will focus on the latest software releases, rumors suggest that Apple may also unveil its first mixed-reality headset during the event.
The annual conference may also see the launch of new MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and iMac models.
Apple is expected to unveil xrOS, iOS 17, iPadOS 17, and macOS 14 at the event.
