The creative world around Washington DC is in shock after a beloved hair and makeup artist was fatally shot in her own home by her son.
Renee Baldwin, 57, known for her work with some of the biggest names in media, was found dead inside her Arlington, Virginia apartment on Sunday morning before 8:30 a.m., according to Fox DC.
Son Charged with Murder and Firearm Offenses
Authorities have charged Baldwin’s 27-year-old son, Logan Chrisinger, with first-degree murder, aggravated malicious wounding, and using a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Reports indicate that Chrisinger remained at the scene following the incident and is currently being held without bond at the Arlington County Detention Facility.
Colleagues Remember Baldwin as a “Gypsy Spirit”
Baldwin’s passing has left her colleagues and friends heartbroken.
At Newsmax, where she worked for years, she was celebrated as a “gypsy spirit” who brought light and warmth to everyone she encountered.
Former Fox News anchor Greta Van Susteren shared her grief on X, saying, “What a sadness… my Newsmax makeup artist of 3.5 years, and years at ABC, ESPN, etc., and a friend to all her colleagues… was murdered over the weekend.
She did my makeup Friday for the show and of course I never dreamed that would be the last time I would see her.”
Heartfelt Tributes Pour In from the Media Community
Amber Duke, editor at the Daily Caller, described Baldwin as “kind, generous, funny,” and recalled the joy of Fridays at Newsmax: “We’d gossip, talk about travel plans, our pets, and enjoy a glass of wine together.
She will be dearly missed.” Similarly, Newsmax White House producer Marisela Ramirez highlighted Baldwin’s nurturing side, remembering how she encouraged clients to open up while working her magic, treating them “with the gentleness of a mother.”
A Life of Dedication and Quiet Strength
Colleagues consistently described Baldwin as a “quiet warrior,” someone who carried the weight of her family and household responsibilities without complaint.
Virginia Allen, co-host of the podcast Problematic Women, added, “Absolutely heartbreaking.
Renee was honest, loving, and so talented. Newsmax will never feel the same without her.”
Another tribute noted that she often spoke proudly of her son, making the circumstances of her death all the more tragic.
Investigation Continues
Authorities continue to investigate the incident while Baldwin’s friends and coworkers remember her vibrant personality and lasting impact on those she touched.
Her legacy as a skilled artist, caring mentor, and cherished friend is being honored in tributes across the media industry.
