The trend began with a boycott of Bud Light due to its partnership with trans activist Dylan Mulvaney.

Target also faced backlash for prominently featuring Pride clothes, including items specifically designed for transgender individuals, in the kids’ section.

The North Face joined the list of criticized brands with its Summer of Pride campaign featuring a drag queen named ‘Pattie Gonia.’

Now, Walmart finds itself at the center of the controversy.

Diverse Opinions on Walmart’s Inventory

Some consumers highlighted that while Walmart stocked Pride merchandise, the store also prominently featured patriotic products for Memorial Day.

They viewed this balance as appropriate and appreciated Walmart’s inclusive approach.

These contrasting opinions reflect the broader societal divide over the visibility of Pride merchandise in retail spaces.

Target’s Response and Controversy

In response to the backlash and concerns for employee safety, Target removed some Pride products from its website and relocated Pride displays to less visible areas of the stores.

While conservatives criticized Target for offering Pride merchandise, Democrats, including California Governor Gavin Newsom, accused the company of selling out LGBTQ+ communities and expressed concern about an alleged systematic attack on marginalized groups.
