Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s action in Okpoko, Ogbaru council area, has been hailed as a wakeup call to other Governors to rehabilitate and upgrade slums in their areas to give citizens a sense of belonging.

Chief Damian Okeke Ogene, the Vice President of haneze Ndgbo global, argued that opening up such places would have multiplier benefits on neighboring towns and communities.

According to Paul Ezeoke, Chief Okeke Ogene stated that the Governor’s intervention will save the area from an epidemic outbreak due to the high population of people in the community, as well as create a new environment for socioeconomic activities to thrive, with more opportunities for people to earn a decent living.

He claims that developing Okpoko into a modern city will attract more firms and investments, which will have a long-term good impact on people’s lives.

While praising the Governor for his bravery in prohibiting touting and illegal revenue collection, Chief Okeke Ogene said this has provided significant relief to the business community, which has suffered for years due to the threat of touting, as well as improved the image of the state, which he said has been smeared by touts for many years.

He added that the prohibition will help the government secure its revenue so that it can better serve the people, and he urged traders and other organizations to help the government meet its objectives.

On the 2023 Presidential election, the Ohaneze Ndigbo Vice President expressed satisfaction that credible aspirants of Igbo descent have entered the race, assuring them of support, while also urging other geopolitical zones to give Ndgbo all the support they need to produce the next president of Nigeria to address the country’s various challenges and cement national unity.

Chief Johnson Nwabuko, a community leader, also spoke, expressing confidence in Governor Soludo’s ability to effectively implement his promise and reposition Anambra for long-term prosperity.

Chief Nwabuko advised security agencies to ensure that the directive prohibiting touting and unlawful income gathering is strictly enforced.
