Volodymyr Zelensky Offers to Exchange Captured North Korean Soldiers for Ukrainian Prisoners Held by Russia in Ongoing Conflict

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has made a bold offer involving two captured soldiers, who are believed to be from North Korea.

In a video shared publicly, Zelensky extended an offer to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, suggesting that Ukraine would be willing to hand over the two soldiers in exchange for Ukrainian prisoners currently held by Russia.

Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine is ready to facilitate such an exchange, provided Kim Jong-un can coordinate the return of Ukrainian soldiers from Russian captivity.

He also mentioned that there might be other options for North Korean soldiers who may not wish to return to their home country.

Captured North Korean Soldiers Speak Out

In the video, one of the captured soldiers spoke out, expressing confusion about his situation.

He revealed that he had no idea where he was or what was happening.

According to his statement, his superiors had informed him that he was heading for military exercises, only to end up in captivity.

South Korean Intelligence Reports Heavy Losses for North Korean Fighters in Russia

Meanwhile, South Korean intelligence sources have reported devastating losses for North Korean soldiers stationed in Russia.

According to Yonhap news agency, more than 300 North Korean fighters were killed in the Kursk region of Russia, and over 2,700 others were injured during the ongoing conflict.

Earlier reports from December 2024 had suggested that approximately 100 North Korean soldiers were killed and around 1,000 were wounded in the same region.

However, the Russian and North Korean governments have not confirmed or provided further details regarding these casualties, which occurred during the clashes with Ukrainian forces.
