On the anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky gave a solemn message of defiance, vowing to bring the “murderers” responsible for the conflict to justice.
In an emotional video address, he praised his nation for fighting back against Vladimir Putin’s troops during a year of “pain, sorrow, faith, and unity,” and stated that they will do everything to achieve victory this year.
Zelensky also promised that Ukraine will never rest until the Russian murderers are held accountable.
The anniversary was marked with memorials and candle vigils for the tens of thousands of dead, with concerns that Russia might unleash another barrage of missiles against Ukraine.
Overseas, the Eiffel Tower was lit up in the colors of the Ukrainian flag, and NATO and the EU pledged their support for Ukraine.
Meanwhile, China called for a ceasefire between the two nations and the end of Western sanctions against Russia.
