The family of Virginia Giuffre has expressed deep anger following the release of Ghislaine Maxwell’s latest prison interview, calling it a “whitewash” that allows the convicted sex trafficker to “rewrite history.”
Giuffre, the mother-of-three who alleged she was abused by Jeffrey Epstein and forced to have sex with Prince Andrew at 17, tragically died by suicide in April.
Bombshell audio from Maxwell’s interview with U.S. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche was made public on Friday, reigniting tensions around one of the most high-profile cases of sexual abuse in recent history.
Maxwell Defends Prince Andrew and Casts Doubt on Giuffre
During the tapes, Maxwell claimed that Prince Andrew was innocent of all allegations and accused Giuffre of fabricating her story for financial gain. Andrew has consistently denied the allegations.
Giuffre’s family called the interview “outrageous,” criticizing the lack of challenge to Maxwell’s statements.
In a statement, they said: “During Blanche’s bizarre interview, she is never challenged about her court-proven lies, providing her a platform to rewrite history.
This travesty of justice entirely invalidates the experiences of the many brave survivors who risked their safety and lives to ensure her conviction.”
Softball Questions and Lack of Accountability
The two-day interview, conducted last month, saw Maxwell, 63, discuss her interactions with several high-profile figures while providing no incriminating information.
Critics argue that Blanche asked “soft-ball” questions and failed to hold her accountable when she contradicted testimonies from Epstein’s victims.
Maxwell, jailed for 20 years in 2022 for her role in Epstein’s abuses, has since been moved from a federal prison in Florida to a minimum-security camp in Texas.
Comments on President Trump and Political Implications
In the interview, Maxwell defended former President Trump, claiming she never witnessed inappropriate behavior and describing him as “a gentleman” who was always “very cordial and very kind.”
John Sweeney, author of Hunting Ghislaine, condemned the interview, saying: “This is a sorry spectacle where a convicted sex criminal and the US President are using the American machinery of justice to massage each other’s backs.
Trump gets whitewashed. Maxwell gets out of jail. The losers are Epstein’s victims and law and order in America.”
A source close to Trump told The Mail on Sunday that the former president welcomed the interview’s release, framing the Epstein Files as a politically motivated scandal and claiming that transparency would allow the public to “move on.”
Legal Experts Denounce Maxwell’s Claims
Brad Edwards, who represents dozens of Epstein victims, dismissed Maxwell’s statements as fabrications, saying: “Sounds like she told crazy stories that can only be made up because she’s telling them to people who don’t know the case.”
Sigrid McCawley, one of Giuffre’s lawyers, also weighed in, emphasizing Maxwell’s history of deception.
“I sat across the deposition table from Ghislaine Maxwell when she lied repeatedly—one question after the next.
We have witnessed that again with the release of Maxwell’s interview, where this convicted felon brazenly lied on the record.
Her attempt to rewrite history and distance herself from Epstein should not and will not be tolerated.”
McCawley added: “The documents don’t lie, the multiple witnesses that testified against her at trial didn’t lie—the only person lying is Maxwell.”
Giuffre’s Legacy and the Fight for Justice
The release of Maxwell’s interview has reignited public debate over accountability and the treatment of victims.
Giuffre’s family and legal team remain steadfast in defending her legacy and ensuring that the voices of survivors are not overshadowed by attempts to manipulate the narrative.
