While most of Hollywood gushes over Al Pacino’s acting chops or legendary career, Vince Vaughn recently revealed something far more unexpected — Al Pacino smells absolutely amazing.
And yes, he’s not joking.
During a fun and lighthearted appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Vaughn got candid about his time filming a new project with the 85-year-old icon and dropped this fragrant little truth bomb that had Fallon — and the audience — in stitches.
Working With a Legend Who Smells Like Luxury
Vaughn, now 55, is fresh off filming Easy’s Waltz, a new movie where he co-stars with Pacino.
As Fallon asked the usual “what was it like” questions, Vaughn jumped in with pure enthusiasm: “I love Al Pacino.
I did a movie with him. He’s terrific… but I have to say this — he smells fabulous.”
Then came the description no one expected: “He smells like a high-end cologne counter in Italy,” Vaughn joked.
“The whole aroma is unbelievable.” Fallon was visibly caught off guard, clearly not expecting a scent review in the middle of the interview.
Aroma Appreciation Becomes a Set-Wide Topic
Turns out, Vaughn wasn’t the only one enchanted by Pacino’s olfactory presence.
He explained that other people on set had also noticed the luxurious scent: “People would be around us and tell him he smelled fantastic.”
So naturally, everyone started asking — what’s the secret cologne? Vaughn said Pacino played it cool: “‘I have to try to remember,’ he’d say.
He doesn’t want to share that fabulous smell.”
Apparently, Pacino was keeping that info close to the vest — maybe even guarding it like a trade secret.
“He’s Protecting His Smells”
Vaughn laughed as he recalled how Pacino wasn’t too eager to reveal the name of his cologne.
When pressed, Pacino would deflect with a mysterious, “I’m trying to leave a legacy,” which Vaughn interpreted as a playful way of keeping his signature scent a mystery.
“So he was protecting his smells,” Vaughn joked, leaving Fallon chuckling at the sheer absurdity — and hilarity — of the whole topic.
Easy’s Waltz: A Vegas Comeback Story
The film that brought Vaughn and Pacino together is Easy’s Waltz, directed by True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto in his feature film debut.
The story follows a struggling lounge singer who’s offered a second shot at fame by a classic Vegas bigwig.
Vaughn and Pacino are joined by a unique ensemble cast including Cobie Smulders, Sophia Ali, Simon Rex, Shania Twain, Shane Gillis, and Fred Melamed.
The film is currently in post-production, with a release date expected soon.
Pacino and Vaughn’s Busy Schedules Continue
While Easy’s Waltz is still on the way, both actors aren’t slowing down.
Pacino will soon hit theaters in The Ritual, co-starring Dan Stevens and Ashley Greene, which premieres nationwide on June 6.
Meanwhile, Vaughn is promoting his heartwarming Netflix comedy Nonnas, set to drop on May 9.
And if that weren’t enough, he’s also gearing up to shoot The Bookie & the Bruiser with Adrien Brody.
Vaughn Jokes About Launching a “Smelling Line”
Before the segment wrapped, Fallon teased that Vaughn has to come back once Easy’s Waltz premieres.
Vaughn quipped that a “smelling line” inspired by Pacino might be a hit — maybe “Eau de Pacino” has a future after all?
