In a strange and tragic twist of timing, former WWE boss Vince McMahon was involved in a serious high-speed car accident just hours before the sudden death of wrestling legend Hulk Hogan.
Both events unfolded on Thursday morning, sending shockwaves through the wrestling world.
Crash on Route 15 Shakes Up the Morning
The crash reportedly happened around 9 a.m. EST as McMahon was driving northbound on Route 15 in Westport, Connecticut, behind the wheel of his luxury 2024 Bentley.
According to a police report obtained by TMZ, McMahon’s car slammed into the back of a 2023 BMW 430, which was being driven by Barbara Doran.
The impact was so severe that debris from the collision struck a third vehicle.
Both the BMW and Bentley were totaled, and the scene was described as chaotic but miraculously non-fatal.
Survivor Speaks Out: “We Were Lucky”
Barbara Doran took to Facebook to share her side of the frightening experience.
She had been en route to catch a ferry to Martha’s Vineyard when the crash occurred.
“Vince McMahon hit me going 80 to 90 mph,” she wrote.
“I somehow kept control of the car as I flew over 100 yards off the road.
It’s a miracle I and the dog walked away.”
She added that an unmarked state trooper had been tailing McMahon, preparing to pull him over for reckless driving when the crash happened.
The officer told Doran that McMahon only noticed her car at the last second and swerved, avoiding a direct hit that could have been fatal.
Reckless Driving Charges Filed Against McMahon
While no major injuries were reported, McMahon’s Bentley had both front wheels ripped off, and the airbags deployed, likely preventing more serious harm.
Authorities later issued a misdemeanor summons for reckless driving and following too closely.
McMahon is expected to appear in court next month.
McMahon Posts Emotional Tribute to Hogan After Crash
Just hours after the accident, McMahon turned to X (formerly Twitter) to post a heartfelt tribute to Hulk Hogan, who passed away that same morning in Clearwater, Florida, reportedly from a cardiac arrest.
“The world lost a treasure today,” he wrote. “Hulk Hogan was the greatest WWE Superstar of ALL TIME… He gave everything to the audience who loved him.”
The tribute added to the emotional weight of an already chaotic day for McMahon, who owes much of his own success in wrestling to Hogan’s rise in the 1980s and ’90s.
Past Legal Troubles Still Linger
This latest event adds to a storm of controversy that’s followed McMahon since his resignation from WWE in early 2024, after former employee Janel Grant filed a lawsuit accusing him of sexual harassment, trafficking, and assault.
In her 67-page filing, Grant alleged that McMahon and former WWE executive John Laurinaitis sexually assaulted her inside WWE headquarters and subjected her to repeated abuse over time.
The claims include deeply disturbing text messages, including one in which McMahon allegedly bragged about controlling her and described violent, explicit acts.
McMahon, through his spokesperson, has denied all allegations, calling the lawsuit “a vindictive distortion of the truth” and vowing to fight it in court.
Rumors Swirl About a WWE Comeback—But TKO Isn’t Buying It
Despite stepping down, rumors have recently resurfaced suggesting that McMahon is considering buying back WWE from its parent company, TKO Group Holdings.
Since resigning, he’s been cashing out shares worth over $1.5 billion, fueling speculation that he might be preparing for a big move.
But sources close to TKO have shut down that idea entirely.
TKO President Mark Shapiro made it clear back in March that McMahon has no role, no office visits, and no path back to the company.
According to reports from PWN, insiders laughed at the suggestion of a buyback, calling it highly unlikely given the nature of the allegations still hanging over McMahon’s name.
What Comes Next?
With a court appearance for reckless driving looming, a past riddled with legal battles, and fresh public scrutiny following a tragic day, Vince McMahon remains very much in the headlines—but not for reasons he’d like.
At the time of writing, DailyMail.com had reached out to the Westport Police Department, Barbara Doran, and McMahon’s legal team for further comment.
