Vigilante kills convicted pedophile pastor in a violent street chase in Fremont California after using the public sex offender registry to track him down

In California, a disturbing story has unfolded involving a man who allegedly tracked down and killed a convicted pedophile pastor after finding his details on the public sex offender registry.

Authorities say 29-year-old Varun Suresh set out on a mission that ended with the violent death of 71-year-old David Brimmer outside his Fremont home on the morning of September 18.

Pretending to Be an Accountant

Investigators believe Suresh disguised himself as a door-to-door accountant in order to confirm Brimmer’s identity.

Carrying a bag, a notebook, and even a coffee cup to appear convincing, he knocked on Brimmer’s door and shook his hand after introducing himself.

According to court records, when Brimmer gave his name, Suresh later told police, “I knew I had the right guy — that’s when we both knew it was on.”

The Chase Through the Neighborhood

The encounter escalated almost immediately.

Neighbors reported seeing Brimmer run for his life down the street as Suresh pursued him, allegedly shouting at him to repent.

Brimmer rushed into a neighbor’s open garage, banging on the door and begging for help.

But Suresh followed him inside, cornered him in the kitchen, and stabbed him in the neck before telling him, “It’s over, you have to repent.”

A Grim Final Scene

Despite Brimmer’s desperate attempt to escape, he collapsed on a nearby lawn, where Suresh allegedly stabbed him multiple more times in the throat.

Police arrived within minutes after neighbors called 911, but life-saving efforts failed.

Brimmer died at the scene, and officers found Suresh outside.

He surrendered without resistance, and a knife was recovered.

What He Allegedly Told Police

Court documents reveal Suresh was shockingly calm and unremorseful after the killing.

He allegedly told officers, “It is not your duty to decide whether Heaven will accept them — it’s your duty to send them to the gates.”

He admitted he had wanted to kill a pedophile for years, claimed the act was “fun,” and said he felt “not sad at all” afterward.

He even added that he wasn’t planning to escape and would have called police himself if they hadn’t already arrived.

A Convicted Predator’s Past

Brimmer’s dark past was no secret.

Back in 1995, when he was a pastor, he was convicted of molesting young boys.

He served nine years in prison before being released, but his details remained on California’s sex offender registry — a database that lists names, photos, addresses, and offenses.

Police say Suresh had taken multiple screenshots of offenders from the registry on his phone the same morning of the killing.

A Pattern of Obsession

This wasn’t Suresh’s first brush with the law over his fixation on targeting alleged predators.

In 2021, he was arrested for making a false bomb threat after leaving a suspicious bag at a hotel.

At the time, he told authorities he believed the CEO of Hyatt Hotels was a pedophile and claimed he wanted to kill him.

Facing Serious Charges

Following the Fremont incident, prosecutors have charged Suresh with murder, residential burglary, and assault with a deadly weapon causing great bodily injury.

His case has raised unsettling questions about vigilantism, mental health, and the risks of individuals using public registries as hunting grounds.

What Happens Next

For now, Suresh remains in custody as his case moves through the courts.

While some may see his actions as twisted retribution, authorities stress that no matter how heinous someone’s crimes may be, taking justice into one’s own hands leads only to more violence.

The coming trial will determine not just Suresh’s fate, but also spark wider debate on how society should handle those who act outside the law in the name of justice.
