A group of teachers from Ermelo, Mpumalanga, were shot by armed robbers but escaped.
The terrifying moment the masked assailants gain entry to the vehicle is seen on CCTV footage from inside a bus carrying school workers.
The frightened instructors cooperated with the threatening criminals, handing over their belongings under duress.
Adding to the tension, one of the robbers demands that the educators’stop gazing’ at him.
The clip has gone viral online, and the incident which took place on the N4 near Witbank is now a police matter. The chilling video captures the sheer, unadulterated fear of the victims, who were snared when these crooks threw rocks on the road and successfully caused a tyre puncture on board the minibus.
As reported by local newspaper, Middelburg Observer, teacher Johan De Plooy had a gun pointed at his chest. One of the robbers pulled the trigger, but miraculously, it didn’t fire. Du Plooy was then struck over the head with the weapon, and although two more shots were fired, no-one got hit.
Eben Jonker also says he had a gun pressed up against his neck, and was left to fear the worst. But, despite these extreme circumstances, none of the six victims were seriously hurt. All were treated for shock once the authorities and loved ones arrived at the scene on Friday night. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
