Just when the Trump administration thought it could shift focus back to policy, another explosive allegation has hijacked the headlines — this time, over a supposed letter Donald Trump allegedly wrote to Jeffrey Epstein for his birthday.
And Vice President JD Vance is not having it.
Vance Slams the Wall Street Journal Over Epstein Letter Allegation
Vice President JD Vance is doubling down on his criticism of the Wall Street Journal, lashing out at the publication for running what he calls a “completely baseless” story without providing proof.
The article claims that Trump wrote a risqué birthday letter to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, something both Trump and Vance say is completely false.
“I don’t even know if the letter exists,” Vance said on social media, clearly frustrated.
“The WSJ won’t show us the letter or even the book they claim it’s in.”
The Internet Wants Answers, But Vance Isn’t Backing Down
MSNBC’s Chris Hayes publicly pressed Vance online, asking whether he was denying the existence of the entire book of birthday letters to Epstein or just Trump’s alleged entry.
Vance, however, stayed focused on what he sees as irresponsible journalism, saying the real issue is the paper’s decision to publish allegations without providing evidence.
He wasn’t holding back: “It’s absurd to claim the president was writing poetry to Epstein,” Vance said.
“And even more absurd that a major newspaper would go after the president without showing their work.”
A Smear Campaign or Serious Journalism?
Vance didn’t stop there — he went so far as to accuse the Wall Street Journal of acting like a political hit machine.
“They’re going to release one detail at a time, trying to drag this out,” he posted. “It’s a partisan smear campaign.
The WSJ is acting like a Democrat Super PAC.”
Meanwhile, Trump’s legal team has responded with a jaw-dropping $10 billion lawsuit against the newspaper, calling the article pure fabrication.
Trump: “This Is Fake. I Never Wrote Anything Like That.”
Trump himself has categorically denied writing the letter.
“This is fake news. I never wrote anything like that,” he said.
“I don’t draw pictures of women. I don’t write poems. It’s not my language. It’s not my style.”
He’s even floated the idea that someone else may have written the letter and falsely used his name — claiming that’s been done before.
Vance’s Uncertainty Raises Eyebrows Among Trump Loyalists
What’s raising eyebrows, though, is the fact that Vance seems uncertain about whether the letter actually exists — something that some of Trump’s supporters see as a sign of weakness or lack of loyalty.
One user on X (formerly Twitter) posted, “This is really weak stuff from Vance.”
Another quipped, “The lawyers say they have the book.
Vance says nobody knows if it’s real. Which is it?”
Others pointed out the irony of Vance not just taking the president at his word, with one commenter writing, “Isn’t it odd that Vance doesn’t know whether the letter exists instead of just believing Trump?”
The Epstein Scandal Continues to Haunt Trump’s White House
This latest controversy comes as the Trump administration faces mounting pressure over how it has handled the Epstein case.
While the president has long denied any inappropriate ties to Epstein, critics remain suspicious — especially those within Trump’s own base.
Earlier in the week, Trump’s trip to Scotland was overshadowed by renewed speculation about Epstein and his imprisoned associate Ghislaine Maxwell.
When asked again about the letter, Trump simply replied, “I don’t even know what they’re talking about.”
Infighting Among Trump Loyalists Spills Into the Open
Behind the scenes, insiders say tensions within the administration are heating up.
Attorney General Pam Bondi and Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino allegedly got into a heated argument over how to handle the fallout after the Justice Department said there was no Epstein “client list” to release.
This isn’t going over well with Trump supporters who’ve long demanded that the administration release names linked to Epstein’s activities.
Bongino, known for his bombastic takes, once said on a podcast: “Put on your big boy pants and tell us who the pedophiles are.”
Trump Tries to Shift Focus Back to Old Grievances
Feeling the pressure, Trump has gone back to a familiar strategy: blame the media and revive the “Russia hoax” narrative.
On Truth Social, he wrote, “They’ve gone absolutely CRAZY… Now they’re calling it the Jeffrey Epstein SCAM.
Another fake story from the Democrats.”
Tulsi Gabbard Resurfaces to Help With Distraction Play
Even former critics like Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard are now stepping back into Trump’s corner.
Gabbard recently helped push the release of Russia probe documents — likely a distraction play to steer attention away from the Epstein allegations.
The Pressure Mounts With No End in Sight
Despite the denials and the lawsuits, the controversy isn’t going away anytime soon.
With the administration fractured and public trust wearing thin, Trump’s team is scrambling to control the narrative.
And if the Wall Street Journal has more details to release, this could just be the beginning of a much bigger storm.
