What was supposed to be a fun night of wrestling entertainment in Los Angeles quickly spiraled into chaos when Raja Jackson, the son of UFC legend Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, stormed the ring.
Without warning, he launched a violent attack on veteran wrestler Stuart Smith, better known to fans as Syko Stu.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as horrifying.
Smith was slammed to the mat and repeatedly struck in the head—even after he appeared to lose consciousness.
Many in the crowd thought they were watching a planned stunt, until security and fellow wrestlers scrambled into the ring to pull Raja away.
A Glimmer of Good News from the Hospital
After the terrifying ordeal, fans finally got a bit of relief.
A photo surfaced online showing Smith awake in his hospital bed, surrounded by supportive friends.
The image, first shared by the X account Fear Buck, quickly went viral, gathering more than 10 million views.
The post confirmed what fans had been desperate to hear: “Syko Stu is awake and has regained consciousness while in the hospital after being attacked by Raja Jackson.”
Family’s Update on His Recovery
Smith’s brother later shared more details about his condition, explaining that the veteran performer suffered severe head injuries.
While conscious and able to talk, his recovery is expected to be long and difficult.
He added a heartfelt message on social media: “Stuart appreciates all the love and support.
Wrestling has been a huge part of his life, but outside the ring, he’s also a husband, a family man, and a regular guy.
His wife Contessa has set up a GoFundMe for anyone who wants to help.”
At last check, the fundraiser had already surpassed $178,000, quickly moving toward its $200,000 goal.
Witness Recalls the Frightening Attack
One of the men who rushed into the ring to stop the assault, Douglas Malo, opened up about the incident on the Scaling Up Podcast.
He revealed that he had been warned something wasn’t right moments before Raja attacked.
“I saw the slam, then the first punch, then the second punch,” Malo recalled.
“You’re watching someone you care about—a veteran, someone loved in the wrestling community—getting destroyed, and I was the only one on the outskirts who was told to watch out.”
Malo described how he tried to intervene, only to end up being attacked himself.
“I wasn’t even fighting back and he punched me in the eye.
That’s why I hit him—he left me no choice. He wanted clout, so he beat up a man who was half unconscious.”
Rampage Jackson Speaks Out
As outrage spread, Raja’s father, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, stepped forward with a public apology.
He admitted his son should never have been involved in the wrestling event, calling it “a work that went wrong.”
Meanwhile, Los Angeles police have opened an investigation into the assault, meaning Raja could be facing serious consequences.
What’s Next?
For now, the focus remains on Stuart Smith’s recovery.
His family, friends, and fans are rallying around him, offering support both emotionally and financially.
While the investigation continues, the wrestling world is left stunned by the unprovoked attack and grateful that Smith is still alive after such a brutal beating.
