The University of Virginia (UVA) has issued a shelter in place order as they continue to search for a wanted suspect spotted on campus.
This alert was triggered after a man, believed to be a gang member, was seen near the university grounds.
Who is Nyeem Hill?
Authorities are advising staff and students to steer clear of Nyeem Hill, who stands at 6’4″ and was last seen wearing a gray hoodie.
UVA police confirmed that Hill was seen near the Alderman Road dorms, and it’s reported that he fled on foot following a traffic stop near Ivy Road.
Hill has been described as having a criminal history and gang affiliations, which has raised serious concerns among law enforcement.
UVA police have urged the public to avoid the area as they conduct their search.

The search for Hill is underway with assistance from the Virginia State Police, UVA campus officers, and the Charlottesville Police Department.

The UVA Department of Safety and Security issued the shelter in place order at 9:35 a.m. on Tuesday, with no reports of injuries or shots fired.
A follow-up alert was sent out at 10:01 a.m., reaffirming the need for everyone on campus and at the medical center to stay inside for safety.
