UAEU celebrates International Youth Day

ALAIN, 12th August, 2021 – The United Arab Emirates University asserted that young people are not mere beneficiaries in their societies; they are leaders and essential partners who play a vital role in creating a brighter future for everyone.
This assertion was made as part of the university’s participation in the worldwide celebrations of the International Youth Day, which is marked on 12th August of every year, to draw the international community’s attention towards youth issues and to celebrate their potential as partners in the current global community.
On this occasion, Dr. Khaula Al Kaabi, Chief Innovation Officer and Associate Professor at the Department of Geography and Urban Sustainability, UAEU, said, “At the United Arab Emirates University, we observe the International Youth Day celebrating the youth’s voice, their bright thoughts, creative initiatives, ambitious achievements, and valuable societal contributions. Considering the Corona pandemic, we acknowledge the young generation’s contributions, initiatives, and dedication. We also prioritise the youth’s issues and needs while encouraging them to keep giving and participate in decision-making. The 4th Industrial Revolution era and the accompanying technological and competitive challenges emphasise the role of the educational sector in preparing young people and providing them with the skills, knowledge, and experiences that enable them to successfully face these challenges and keep pace with the needs of the development and the knowledge economy.”
“On this day, we focus on guiding the youth and drawing their attention to the importance of education and training and the need to seize the opportunities and employ them in building their own future personae 4.0. In addition to getting equipped with the skills, the digital and professional features, and entrepreneurship skills during their educational journey to build a future personality that is able to search, analyse, and find innovative solutions via constant learning and professional adaptation, leading them to create opportunities rather than waiting for them,” she added.
Dr. Al Kaabi concluded, “Our message for Emirates’ Youth today is to believe in their capabilities, follow their ambitions, and employ their skills and energy in building a brighter future for everyone. In addition to practicing their country’s noble values and leaving a positive impact out of love of our precious country and the world we share.”
