We all have our quirks, but Tyra Banks might’ve just taken things to a whole new level.

While guest-hosting on TODAY with Jenna & Friends this week, the supermodel-turned-TV host made a confession that had Jenna Bush Hager—and the entire audience—visibly squirming.

What did she reveal? Well, let’s just say it involves food, crumbs, and a pretty unique interpretation of “leftovers.”

“I Just Eat Them”—Tyra Explains Her Crumb-Cleaning Technique

While chatting casually on the show, 51-year-old Tyra admitted that when it comes to crumbs left in her bed at her home in Sydney, she doesn’t bother cleaning them the usual way. Instead, she… eats them.

Yep. You read that right.

“If it’s not perishable and I know it’s mine, I just eat it,” she said with a straight face, pointing out that things like popcorn can last a few days.

“That’s like astronaut food,” she joked. “It lasts forever.”

Jenna, clearly horrified, gagged and asked, “You would eat something like that a week later?” Tyra didn’t flinch.

“Yeah, if I know it’s from me and it’s in my bed.”

It’s a Family Thing—Even Her Mom and Son Do It

Turns out, this quirky habit isn’t just Tyra’s alone.

Her mom, Carolyn London, and her nine-year-old son York also like snacking in bed—especially ice cream and popcorn—and they don’t seem to mind a bit of lag time between bites.

But things get a little murkier when her son starts copying her.

Tyra laughed, “I tell him, ‘Don’t do that!’ And he goes, ‘But Mama, you do it!’”

No Shoes, No Roaches… and Floor Snacks?

Tyra went even further, revealing she sometimes eats crumbs off the floor.

Her reasoning? Shoes are banned in her home, which keeps the floors clean enough to eat off of.

“I’m serious,” she said. “I eat off my floor because I don’t want roaches.”

That’s when things went from quirky to truly eyebrow-raising for a lot of viewers.

Social Media Wasn’t Having It

Fans didn’t hold back their reactions—especially on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter).

One Instagram user commented with a nauseated emoji: “Disgusting! Would never eat in bed and then eat the crumbs later.”

Another wrote, “I eat in bed all the time, but I’m not leaving popcorn in it for days.”

Meanwhile, over on X, someone posted a meme with the caption: “Tyra eating crumbs off the floor is wild,” and another simply responded with a vomiting emoji: “Nasty.”

Tyra’s Not Done Yet—More Guest Hosting and Upcoming Projects

Despite the buzz, Tyra’s not slowing down.

She’s set to co-host TODAY with Jenna & Friends for four more days this week, so we might be in for even more surprising reveals.

Next up, you’ll see her on the August 13 episode of Celebrity IOU on HGTV, where she’ll join the Property Brothers, Drew and Jonathan Scott, in helping give someone’s space a fresh new makeover.

Still a Trailblazer Behind the Quirks

Let’s not forget—Tyra has a long track record of breaking barriers.

She was the first Black model to grace the cover of Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Issue in 1996 and returned for follow-up covers in 1997, 2019, and most recently, 2024.

She also continues to stay relevant behind the scenes.

In May, Entertainment Weekly confirmed Tyra had filmed an interview for a Netflix docuseries diving into the legacy and making of America’s Next Top Model, the reality competition she created that ran for 18 seasons.

And although RuPaul may not admit it outright, many believe Tyra’s show helped lay the groundwork for the structure of RuPaul’s Drag Race, another Emmy-winning juggernaut.

Whether You Love Her or Cringe, Tyra Stays Unapologetically Herself

Say what you will about her unusual snack habits—Tyra Banks continues to own her space with confidence and honesty.

Whether she’s walking a runway, hosting a morning show, or snacking on popcorn days later, she’s never afraid to be exactly who she is.

Gross or genius? We’ll let you decide.
