London Fashion Week saw one of its most iconic faces return to the spotlight on Monday as Twiggy made a stylish appearance at the Burberry show in Perks Field.
At 75, the legendary model proved age is no barrier to fashion, cutting a sophisticated figure in a sleek black suit paired with matching trousers, a crisp white shirt, and a satin tie.
With sunglasses perched atop her head, Twiggy’s radiant smile was a highlight for photographers and fans alike.
A Marriage Built on Shared Passions and Projects
Twiggy’s enduring energy and elegance off the runway mirrors the strength of her 42-year marriage to husband Leigh Lawson, 82.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Leigh opened up about the secret behind their long-lasting partnership, emphasizing the importance of keeping busy and working together.
“We get on really well and spend almost all of our time together,” Leigh said.
“We enjoy each other’s company and collaborate on projects.
We’ve just had a wonderful success with the musical based on Twiggy’s life, Close-Up.”

Despite her age, Twiggy shows no signs of slowing down.
Leigh shared that she has recently been featured on the cover of Vogue twice—once for Vogue Portugal and again for Vogue Greece—and has even returned to work on Germany’s Next Top Model.
“I can’t see her retiring,” Leigh explained. “She’s a ball of energy. I’m just so proud of her.”

The couple’s journey to each other’s arms wasn’t immediate.
Both had been previously married—Leigh separated from his first wife in 1976, and Twiggy was widowed in 1983 when her husband Michael Witney passed away from a heart attack.
“I think luck plays a big part,” Leigh reflected on their marriage.
“We met in our forties, which probably helped.
You’re more prepared to compromise, to respect each other, and humor really holds it all together. We make each other laugh a lot.”

Their romance began in the eighties, introduced by actor Robert Powell.
Leigh recalls their first dinner together fondly: “I went along and we got on fine over dinner.
She now teases me, saying ‘you didn’t ask for my phone number!’ But I knew I could get it from Robert.”
Twiggy, determined as ever, didn’t wait for fate.
Just two days later, she showed up at Leigh’s house in a striking blue Jaguar, greeting him with a friendly, “Hello, do you want a cup of tea?” Leigh laughs at the memory, noting, “She pulled me off the streets, basically!”

For Twiggy and Leigh, attraction was never just physical.
“I found my wife really attractive and desirable when I met her,” Leigh admitted.
“But above all, she’s a really nice person, kind and enjoyable to be around.
