A recent car accident in Denbighshire has left a 12-year-old girl in critical condition, with life-threatening injuries.
The horrifying three-car pile-up also led to a 13-year-old girl being airlifted to a hospital in North Wales, along with five other individuals who are suffering from serious or potentially life-changing injuries.
The collision, which occurred in Bodfari yesterday evening, was described as “horrendous” by those who witnessed the aftermath.
A Fiery Scene and Heroic Efforts
The crash involved one car that burst into flames, creating a terrifying and dangerous scene.
One witness, Tony Johnson, heard a massive bang from his nearby home and rushed to the scene.
Within minutes, he saw the cars engulfed in flames.
He and another local rushed to the aid of a driver trapped in one of the vehicles, pulling them from the blazing wreck.
Johnson described the location of the crash as a “nasty blind bend,” where the speed limit changes abruptly from 40 mph to 60 mph, making it a dangerous spot.
Unfortunately, while accidents have occurred in the area before, this one was by far the most severe.
Arrests and Ongoing Investigation
In the aftermath of the crash, a 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injuries through dangerous driving.
He had sustained minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The driver of a second vehicle, a BMW, was released under investigation.
Another man, a passenger in a Mercedes, was arrested and remains hospitalized with serious injuries.
The driver of the Mercedes also suffered significant, life-changing injuries and is receiving treatment at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd.
The two girls involved in the crash were passengers in an Audi Q3, along with the female driver and another female passenger.
All four are currently in the hospital with serious injuries.
The scene was chaotic, and a local resident, Scott Davidson, witnessed the terrifying moment when one of the cars crashed into his fence.
He described it as a “horrendous” sight, with around 20 to 30 emergency service workers attending to the victims.
Police Appeal for Information
Detective Sergeant Katie Davies from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit has confirmed that an investigation is underway.
She expressed her thoughts and best wishes for those still in the hospital and encouraged anyone with information to come forward.
