Former President Donald Trump has requested the Stormy Daniels hush money case to be moved from Manhattan to Staten Island, a more Republican-friendly location.
This request was made just hours before his historic arraignment in the Manhattan court. He expressed dissatisfaction with the judge presiding over the case, who he claimed is a ‘well-known Trump hater’ with bias against him, and whose daughter works for Vice President Kamala Harris.
Trump’s Demand for Change of Venue
In his post on Truth Social, the former president claimed that the new location in Staten Island would be ‘very fair and secure’ and a much better location for the trial.
He also criticized the judge in the case, stating that he was an ‘unfair disaster on a previous Trump related case’ and wouldn’t recuse, adding that he had given ‘horrible jury instructions’ and was ‘impossible to deal with during the witch hunt trial.’
Trump’s claims have sparked controversy and garnered significant media attention, particularly in the wake of his recent surge in polls.
Supporters and Opposers Demonstrating Outside the Courthouse
The former president’s arraignment has attracted a lot of attention from both supporters and opposers. Demonstrators gathered outside the courthouse in Manhattan, where Trump turned himself in, to show their support or opposition to him.
He will be escorted throughout the entire arraignment process by his Secret Service detail.
Trump’s Plan Following the Arraignment
After the arraignment, Trump will return to his estate in Mar-a-Lago and deliver remarks from his Palm Beach, Florida club.
The Stormy Daniels hush money case has been a long-standing legal issue that has caused considerable controversy and damage to the former president’s reputation.
Trump’s request for a change of venue to Staten Island could have significant implications for the case’s outcome and is likely to be a subject of ongoing debate and speculation.
