The running community has been left in shock and sorrow following the tragic death of a runner during the Two Oceans Half Marathon in Cape Town this past Sunday.

Taryn Armour, a 48-year-old from KwaZulu-Natal, collapsed during the race and sadly passed away despite efforts from the race’s medical team.

A Life Taken Too Soon

Taryn Armour, an experienced occupational therapist, was reportedly in good health when she participated in the marathon.

She was part of a race that’s known for its beautiful yet challenging route through the Cape Town region.

However, she collapsed shortly after passing the 11km medical point up Southern Cross Drive in Constantia, just past the halfway mark.

Medical staff at the event immediately responded, but tragically, Armour could not be revived.

Honoring Taryn Armour’s Memory

A memorial service will be held in her honor on Saturday, April 12, at Cityhill Church in Hillcrest, where friends, family, and loved ones can come together to celebrate her life and legacy.

The Two Oceans Marathon organisers, deeply moved by the loss, expressed their condolences to Taryn’s family on social media.

They shared a heartfelt message, saying, “As a team, Taryn’s husband, children, and entire family are never far from our thoughts.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to them at this extremely difficult time.”
