Garrett Bruno, a well-known travel influencer, has been found dead six months after allegedly causing a tragic car crash that killed an elderly woman.
Bruno’s body was discovered at his parents’ home in Mount Dora, Florida, on Tuesday evening.
Investigation Ongoing Into Death and Past Allegations
The Orange County Medical Examiners confirmed the 33-year-old’s death and told DailyMail.com that an investigation into the circumstances is still ongoing.
At the time of his death, Bruno was out on bail, facing charges of second-degree murder after a fatal car crash in October 2024.
The Fatal Crash and the Allegations
Bruno was accused of running a red light in his Ford Explorer while under the influence of drugs, speeding in a 25mph zone, and crashing into an SUV in which 83-year-old Esther Abouab was a passenger.
Abouab died from blunt force trauma, while her husband, Joe, was severely injured but survived the crash.
Toxicology Report Reveals Drugs in Bruno’s System
A toxicology report revealed that Bruno had ketamine and GHB in his system at the time of the crash.
The influencer was hospitalized briefly after the incident but suffered additional injuries in two subsequent scooter accidents, one of which involved a broken jaw and another, a skull fracture.
Bruno’s Public Display of Drug Use and Legal Troubles
Bruno’s troubles continued as he was photographed by DailyMail.com on October 19, just nine days after the crash, snorting what he claimed was prescription ketamine outside his West Hollywood home.
On October 25, he was involved in another scooter accident that left him in a coma and needing urgent medical attention.
Legal Actions and Bail Status
Authorities attempted to arrest Bruno in November 2024, but by then, he had been hospitalized.
After regaining consciousness in late December, he was transferred to an LA jail. Bruno was out on bail awaiting trial for the death of Esther Abouab when he passed away.
Bruno’s Sudden Departure to Florida and His Surprising Political Stance
Bruno, who had a following of 61,000 on his Garrett Travels account, had left California to be with his family in Florida at the time of his death.
His departure from California followed a year that saw him make headlines by publicly coming out as a MAGA supporter, a move that surprised many in the LGBT community of West Hollywood.
Awaiting Further Comment from Authorities
