What do you get when Spider-Man swings into town—but the town isn’t New York? It turns out you get Glasgow.
The Scottish city has taken on a whole new identity as filming officially began for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the latest installment in the beloved superhero franchise.
And leading the charge, of course, is Tom Holland, who looked thrilled to be back in the red-and-blue suit.
At 29, he’s been Spidey for nearly a decade now, and he was all smiles on set this weekend, even mimicking his signature web-shooting pose for cheering fans.
Glasgow Transforms into NYC for Filming
Instead of filming in the actual Big Apple, the production team decided to recreate Manhattan streets right in the heart of Glasgow—likely for budget reasons.
But despite the change in scenery, the atmosphere felt just as electric as any Marvel film set.
Tom was spotted waving to fans while in costume, clearly enjoying himself as he returned to the role he first took on in Captain America: Civil War back in 2016.
Big Names Rumored for the Cast
While full casting details haven’t been confirmed yet, there’s a lot of buzz around who will be joining Tom on screen.
Zendaya, 29—who met Tom on the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming and has been his partner ever since—is set to return for this chapter.
Also expected to appear is Stranger Things breakout star Sadie Sink, 23, though Marvel hasn’t officially confirmed her role yet.
If true, it would mark another major crossover of young talent in the ever-expanding Marvel Universe.
Off-Screen, Tom’s Star Just Keeps Rising
When he’s not leaping across rooftops, Tom’s been busy stacking up other major career wins.
Most recently, he was announced as the face of Prada’s Paradigme fragrance.
He even posed for the campaign with some incredibly photogenic puppies—because why not?
And that’s not the only headline he’s made lately.
Tom has also been fielding nonstop rumors about a very different kind of iconic role—James Bond.
The Bond Rumors Just Won’t Go Away
Fans have been whispering for months about the possibility of Tom stepping into 007’s shoes.
But when asked directly in a video last Thursday, he kept things vague.
“Listen, there’s speculation at the minute.
We’ll keep it to a minimum for now,” he said with a smirk. “We’ll get there one day.”
He didn’t confirm or deny anything, but did reflect on how surreal his career has already been: “Every young British actor, it’s the pinnacle of working in our industry.
I already consider myself the luckiest kid alive.”
New Bond Movie Moves Forward Without Casting News
While Tom’s name continues to float around, the next James Bond film is steadily moving forward—just without a confirmed lead.
Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight has officially signed on to write the script, teaming up with director Denis Villeneuve.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, Knight shared his excitement: “It has always been on my bucket list and it’s fantastic to be invited to do it—I can’t wait to get started.”
The movie will be overseen by Amazon MGM Studios, which now holds the reins of the franchise after longtime producer Barbara Broccoli stepped back.
No Replacement Yet for Daniel Craig
Despite the progress behind the scenes, there’s still no word on who will replace Daniel Craig, who ended his Bond run at age 57 after portraying a more mature and emotionally grounded 007.
This time around, producers are said to be looking for a significantly younger actor to breathe new life into the iconic role—someone who could take the character into the next era.
Whether or not Tom Holland fits that vision is still up in the air.
