Timothée Chalamet faces fan backlash in Hollywood as supporters launch Operation Unwelcome against Kylie Jenner

For some fans, seeing Timothée Chalamet date reality star Kylie Jenner has been nothing short of shocking.

Known for his serious acting chops, the 29-year-old star found himself at the center of fan outrage when he began dating Jenner in 2023.

Dubbed ‘Chalamaniacs,’ many worried the relationship could derail his rising Hollywood career.

Two years later, Chalamet has proven his talent with Oscar nominations and blockbuster films under his belt.

Yet some fans remain unconvinced, so determined to protect their beloved actor that they’ve launched a campaign they call ‘Operation Unwelcome,’ aiming to push Jenner out of his public life entirely.

Operation Unwelcome and Marty Supreme

The protest gained traction ahead of Chalamet’s upcoming film Marty Supreme, where he stars alongside Gwyneth Paltrow as table tennis prodigy Marty Reisman.

Even with a Christmas Day release date, screenshots circulated online calling for Jenner to feel “about as welcome as a mosquito at a camping trip,” reflecting fans’ frustration at what they see as her overshadowing his achievements.

“I want her to feel unwelcome,” one critic wrote. Another added, “This needs to happen. That b***h needs a wake-up call.”

The sentiment highlights how intensely some fans have taken the idea of protecting Chalamet from his reality TV partner.

Club Chalamet and Fan Organizing

Much of the organized backlash stems from Club Chalamet, a forum created in 2018 by Simone Cromer, 58, to give mature fans a space to discuss the actor’s career.

The forum expanded to social media, including Instagram and X, though some of its TikTok and YouTube channels are now defunct.

Cromer has become a leading voice in discouraging Jenner’s presence at red carpet events.

She even edited Jenner’s face out of photos and publicly criticized the influencer for allegedly diverting attention from Chalamet’s accomplishments.

The Red Carpet Controversy

Cromer has urged Chalamet to attend awards shows with friends, family, or business associates instead of Jenner, claiming her presence can draw negative headlines.

She believes the reality star overshadowed Chalamet’s Oscar campaign for A Complete Unknown, arguing he lost to Adrien Brody in part because of the distraction.

According to Cromer, Jenner’s family orchestrated the couple’s first public appearance, fueling a narrative among fans that Chalamet needs to be “rescued” from the Kardashian-Jenner influence.

The Couple’s Perspective

Despite the online vitriol, an insider told the Daily Mail that the hate doesn’t negatively affect Chalamet and Jenner’s relationship.

“She is aware of all the hate, and she doesn’t like it, but she has to rise above it. Timothée tries to reassure Kylie all the time that they are OK.”

Jenner, who has grown up in the public eye on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, is no stranger to criticism.

She has previously spoken about how internet trolls affected her confidence but has learned to find peace with the abuse.

How They Connected

The unlikely couple met through mutual friends and shared interests in January 2023, attending a Jean Paul Gaultier show in Paris.

That year, they were spotted at the US Open, a Saturday Night Live afterparty, and the Kardashian-Jenner Christmas Eve celebration.

Their romance became public with a Golden Globes kiss in January 2024 and subsequent appearances at Oscars, Knicks games, and trips to Budapest during Chalamet’s Dune 3 filming.

Fans vs. Reality

Even with fans’ attempts to intervene, Chalamet has no plans to feed the online protests.

“He will continue to support the fun things his fans do like the look-alike contests but he refuses to get involved with trolling,” an insider said.

The actor’s focus remains on his work and his relationship, reassuring Jenner that online negativity is just talk from jealous individuals who aren’t his true fans.
