Saturday night outside Tampa, Florida, Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth defeated Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy in the latest version of The Match.
Thomas and Spieth won 3-and-2 in 10 holes at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair under the lights. Thomas and Spieth combined for seven birdies, while Woods and McIlroy only managed one.
“Hey, Tiger, Rory… WHAT OCCURRED? Thomas and Spieth parodied thereafter on Twitter. “How do you lose against us? It’s okay, everybody does it.”
After Hurricane Ian, the event raised millions of dollars for recovery operations.
After The Match, Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods, Justin Thomas, and Jordan Spieth are interviewed.
“We were able to achieve something under the lights that has never been done before in our sport,” Woods remarked on the TNT broadcast following the tournament.
Tiger had his third appearance in The Match, while the other three made their first appearances in the made-for-television event.
