Season five of 1Magic’s serial The River kicked off with a flashback to Mabutho and Nomonde’s spectacular wedding, which many fans are eagerly anticipating.
Viewers are praying that Zweli Dikana, the spouse of Lindiwe Dika, played by Hlomla Dandala, will not die this season.
SEASON FIVE FLASH-FORWARD
Love birds – Nomonde (Linda Mtoba) and Mabutho (Thembinkosi Mthembu) are set to become the fifth couple to get married in The River season five.
The new season also showed fan-favourite character – Zweli Dikana getting knocked out in the bathroom and bleeding afterward.
The show’s series producer – Percy Vilakazi recently told Sowetan that they opted for a modern minimalist wedding with simple lines and soft muted motifs.
Nomonde and Mabutho are set to get married at The Forum White Light, which is situated in Lanseria countryside according to the publication.
The bride was dressed by popular fashion designer Sello Medupe while Mabutho was dressed by Lungastar Creations.
Season five began with a flash-forward wedding just like season one’s wedding between Tumi Mokoena-Dikana and Zolani Dlamini.
CURRENT STORYLINES
The flash-forwards make the storylines and characters more interesting.
Nomonde’s soon-to-be husband Mabutho is currently living in poverty but is wealthy in the future.
Cobra (Presley Chueneyagae) and Lindiwe’s (Sindi Dlathu) relationship also changed from the end of season four to season five.
They’ve become closer and Cobra acquires money which has led to fans predicting that he gets his money from Lindiwe.
Award-winning actor Lawrence Maleka – who plays Zolani Dlamini on the show also returns.
He’s informed that his wife – Emma (Lunathi Mampofu) no longer lives in the mansion as she shot kicked out for cheating on him.
The publication also reveals that Muvhango and The Queen star Fezile Makhanya has joined season five of the telenovela.
