An Overview of the Tragic Events The Hunt for Raoul Moat is a three-part series that tells the story of the 2010 manhunt for Raoul Moat, who had recently been released from prison and went on a violent spree.

He shot his ex-girlfriend, Samantha Stobbart, and her partner, Chris Brown, who died as a result.

He then shot and permanently blinded police officer David Rathband before going on the run, causing a massive manhunt that lasted over a week.

The Manhunt for Raoul Moat The Northumbria Police put 160 armed officers, snipers, helicopters, anti-terrorist vehicles, and an RAF jet on the hunt for Moat.

The manhunt played out with Moat perceived as an ‘anti-hero,’ a persecuted victim fighting back against the authorities.

However, the reality was that he was an armed sociopath who declared war on the police.

The Final Standoff Moat was finally found hiding in Cragside, a National Trust property in Northumberland.

During the standoff, he was offered food and water, and his friend Tony Laidler was brought to the scene in an attempt to get him to surrender.

Ex-England footballer Paul Gascoigne also arrived at the scene carrying a fishing rod and claiming he knew Moat.

The next day, Moat shot himself in the head.

The Purpose of the ITV Drama Writer Kevin Sampson says the ITV drama seeks to remember Moat’s victims and show how the legal and probationary service needs to take domestic violence seriously and understand its potentially fatal consequences.
