As we approach the third of the way mark in the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season, the competition is heating up for bragging rights as the country’s top goal scorer.
With players showing their skills week after week, it’s anyone’s guess who will claim the coveted Golden Boot by the end of the season.
Tshegofatso Mabasa’s Lasting Impact
Last season, Tshegofatso Mabasa of Orlando Pirates showed he could be lethal in front of goal, finishing as the top scorer in South Africa with 16 goals.
His form left fans wondering if he could replicate or even surpass that performance this season.
However, it’s still a long way to go, and the race is wide open.
Can Anyone Break the Record?
Despite the excitement, it’s highly unlikely that anyone will come close to breaking the all-time PSL goal-scoring record of 25 goals set by Collins Mbesuma of Kaizer Chiefs back in the 2004/05 season.
But, with new and emerging talent, the chase for the Golden Boot is as competitive as ever.
